  • Question

  • the C:\windows\system32\defrag.exe file is missing. How do I get it back installed where it's suppose to be? This is a windows 7 64 bit operating system

  • Can you try this.

    Start Menu >> in the search box type this >> %windir%\system32\dfrgui.exe >> hit Enter.

    Or you can try to restore your system when you were able to get Defrag.exe.

  • Run System File Checker tool (SFC.exe) to check if system files. You can refer the link:
    How to use the System File Checker tool to troubleshoot missing or corrupted system files on Windows Vista or on Windows 7

    If the issue persists, an in-place upgrade may fix it:
