sbs server 2008 or 2011

  • Does anybody know If I can use one sbs server 2008 or 2011 to setup 2 companies at 2 different locations. I have an accountant that  just brought another company and want 1 server to be able to handle 9 pc and one site and 3 at the original site. she want to keep the companies separate and be able to remote in from either location and to either companies? they are about 5 mile apart.

  • It depends what sort of experience you are looking to provide.

An SBS Server cannot be a remote desktop server.

If you have a link between the two offices, there is no reason why people at one site could not access shared folders on the server at the other site.

You can of course use NTFS and share permissions to prevent each company looking at the others data.

Exchange can also have multiple email domains configured on it, i am assuming you mean SBS Standard (with Exchange) not Essentials.
