Replication access was denied

    Question

  • Hi Experts,we have 4 Writable domain controllers and 12 RODC.

    When i type repadmin /replsummary /bydest /Bysrc in writable domain controller i get below error.."Replication access was denied" & "DSA operations is unable to to proceed because of a DNS lookup failure"

    Could some one please guide me,how to troubleshoot this issue.

  • Based on the screen capture, you have a DNS lookup failure which means that your DCs are not properly registered in DNS. For this, I would advise to refer to my recommendation for the IP settings of DCs and make sure that no firewall is blocking / filtering traffic between your DCs: http://www.ahmedmalek.com/web/fr/articles.asp?artid=23

  • Hi,

    What you get when you launch this command:

    dcdiag /test:DNS

    on Each DC, you should add IP of a DC as DNS settings.

    You have to check if there is network issue  and  network flow is not blocked between DC.

    Regarding error “DSA operations is unable to to proceed because of a DNS lookup failure”, please follow the KB as below to have a try:

    And if you follow Thameur’s suggestion to run dcdiag /test:DNS and if any error is returned, you could follow the article as below to start troubleshooting:
