PowerBI connector types RRS feed

  • Question

  • The list of connectors below does not elaborate on the connector technology. Can someone tell me if all of the connections made in PowerBI are ODBC? A combination of ODBC, JDBC? Other?

    Thank you

  • Your question is a little ambiguous because "Power BI" has more than one component which supports data access. If you're asking specifically about Power Query, then relational databases are supported via ADO.NET -- but you can't connect via an arbitrary provider, you can only use one of the drivers we support directly. This is because Power Query generates server-specific SQL based on your query. We're looking for ways to relax this restriction, but don't have anything specific planned yet.
