  • You cannot do that in Windows XP: you have to install additional RAM modules.
    Only Windows versions starting from Windows Vista can use USB flash drives to increase RAM by means of the ReadyBoost technology.

  • You can do it in windows XP but you need to install third party softwares to do this. I recommend not to use any other software which is not recommended by Microsoft. 

    In vista and windows 7 you can use ready boost feature but not all USB flash drives support the Readyboost feature.
