AGPL License - MRO 3.3.2 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I noticed that the source contained the file: microsoft-r-open-MRO-3.3.2.tar.gz/microsoft-r-open-MRO-3.3.2.tar/ microsoft-r-open-MRO-3.3.2/ source/ share/ licenses/ AGPL-3. Why is the AGPL 3.0 license included? What part of the software does this license cover?

  • The file you refer to is part of R from the R Foundation, which is included in MRO.

R itself is licensed under GPL-2. (Some header files are distributed under LGPL-2.1.) No part of it is licensed under AGPL 3.0.

That AGPL-3.0 license is included along with the text of several other OSS licenses in the folder you reference, in the R Source tree. It's referenced by the file license.db, which lists the allowable licenses for an R package to be included on CRAN. (Full list here: https://svn.r-project.org/R/trunk/share/licenses/license.db )
