Time settings in Intune RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

Can we set up time settings in Intune, so that once the users join the machine via Hybrid Azure AD or Azure ID, time is set for them. It would be easier if we can set it as per geography or a default time and give the user ability to change it.

  • No, Intune is not a time authority.

Hybrid Azure AD systems automatically sync their time to the on-prem domain as this is default behavior when joined to an on-prem AD domain.

You can certainly configure other time authorities though using a PowerShell script but there are currently no native time CSPs in Windows.

What problem exactly are you trying to address here?

  • Thanks Jason,

I got it, I was thinking, if there is a way we can specify time as per the geo location of the machine via intune, but no worries, I got it.

PS: The hybrid AD join itself is not working for now.

  • Windows itself does have an automatic time sync mechanism built-in that also auto-detects time zones based on IP address. None of this has anything to with Intune or is directly manageable although I don't see what additional capability Intune would provide or is necessary here.

  • @Jason,

If Intune was able to provide a capability to manage the timezone as per Geo, it would be awesome.

  • Then you should file a UserVoice item although I still don't understand what advantage this would provide over the built-in Windows timezone detection functionality.
