Why do custom toolbars on the taskbar disappear after reboot in Windows 7? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am running Windows 7 SP1 with IE9.  Randomly after reboots, all of my custom toolbars that I have put on the taskbar disappear and the taskbar goes back to its default view.  Some of the toolbars that I use are:  Quick launch, and network share folders.  I found KB 979155 and got the hotfix.  When attempting to run the hotfix, even though I verified the windows version, it gave me a warning saying "this hotfix will not work with your system". http://support.microsoft.com/kb/979155 I notice that the hotfix name is Windows6.1-kb979155-x86.msu.  Windows 6.1 is Vista SP1, so how can I get the Windows 7 SP1 hotfix?

  • Windows 6.1 is Windows 7. Vista Sp1 = 6.0.6001.

The hotfix is already included in Windows 7 Sp1, that why you get the message "doesn't apply to your system"

Contact the MS Support and tell them that the Sp1 has this issue again.
