Where are the Tasks of that resource? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I created 2 tasks, Duration: 5d on next week (so Near Future)

I assigned the same resource on the 2 tasks, saved and published the project.

In her PWA "Assignments" page the resource can see her new assignments. In her Availability page too.

But in her Tasks view, these assignments never appeared. In fact there is no Near Future Planning Window for this resource.

What could be the cause of this phenomenon?

    Thanks

  • Hi,

two more questions, the second one for me to reproduce:

    1. By any chance, is assgnment owner for these tasks someone else?
    2. What is your value of "Near Future Planning Window"?

    Regards

  • Hi,

could you please verify that this resource has booking type Committed? If you see it in Assignments, but not in Tasks, this is my first idea.

    Regards

  • Barbara,

Yes, you are right : these tasks are in the Assignment owner "Tasks" page.

  • And this "someone else" can't see these tasks? Tasks are only displayed on Assignment Owner's Task page.

  • WLID1966 --

So, now you know by experience how the Assignment Owner field works!  :) Did you specify the other person as the Assignment Owner intentionally?  If not, then I would suspect your Project Server administrator set that other person as the Default Assignment Owner for the resource in PWA.  The key question now is, "Who is supposed to report progress on this task?"  If it is the person actually assigned to the task, then you need to make him/her the Assignment Owner for the task.  And if this person is supposed to report progress on every task he/she is assigned to in every project, then the Project Server administrator needs to specify him/her as the Default Assignment Owner on his/her user account in PWA.  Hope this helps.
