Saving Office files in Windows 10 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

    Whenever I use the "save as" function to save a file from any Office suite product on Win 10 (Office 2016), if I go to file, save as, and try to select a folder from "Last week" for example it always just defaults to top level of My Documents folder and not the folder I have selected from the recent folders list.

    Is there a fix for this, either hotfix or registry tweak?

    Kind regards,

  • Hi David,

    You can change the location as below:

    In Word 2016, click File > Options > Save, under Save documents, click Browse for Default local file location path settings.

    Also do the similar settings for other Office applications.

    If you want to do it via registry, follow this:

    Registry Hive HKEY_CURRENT_USER
    Registry Path software\policies\microsoft\office\16.0\common\open find\restrictedbrowse
    Value Name {number}
    Value Type REG_SZ
    Default Value

    Enter the name of the Location as Value Name, and path as the Value. This registry key stores the locations available to users in the Save As dialog box.

    Here is a reference for you:
