Is the TimeZone used for displaying a datetime the same on Portal and Email Notifications? RRS feed

  • We have noticed that an Employee Start date displayed by the Portal is not the same date and time as shown on the Email Notification.

    The portal I guess uses the TimeZone as defined in the Administration/Portal Configuration/Extended Attributes/Time Zone.

    But what is used by the Email Notification to display [//Target/EmployeeStartDate] ?

    Interesting question. Best way to investigate further would be to look at the HTML source of the email and find the date time info.

  • The emails will use UTC/GMT time. Since emails can go to a group, there is no easy wasy to guess which timezone these people are in.

    The portal has a default timezone, as you have noticed. But it is also possible for an end user to change the timezone and get everything in the portal in their local time.
