MDT 2013 Update 1 (8298) Hyper-V Gen2 UEFI C: Disk not found RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi! I try to deploy Windows 10 Enterprise with MDT 2013 Update 1 re-release. I use a Gen 2 virtual machine on Hyper-V with a dynamic 60GB disk. Look here: Deploy a Windows 10 image using MDT 2013 Update 1. However, the Format and Partition Disk step do not work. In bdd.log I can see that diskpart creates partitions and volumes and the waiting for drive C: > count to 100% and then breaks with error Drive C: not found.

If I create a Gen 1 virtual machine deployment works. However, there is a second partition "Recovery" I do not want. Why?

Is there any workaround? Still a bug? Every help is appreciated.

    Thanks ... Dietmar

Answers

  • Ok. The Format and Partition Disk step has an unnecessary Recovery partition configured. Just delete this partition and it works like a charm.

  • If you upgraded from 8290 and didn't recreate your task sequences then this will happen.

Most important details are logs. If you are unsure how to post logs or where to find them then reference https://keithga.wordpress.com/2014/10/24/video-mdt-2013-log-files-basics-bdd-log-and-smsts-log/
