SCCM in different location RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I would like to ask about SCCM Multi Sites, If I have for example to build SCCM in 4 Sites in different countries, As I know I will need CAS,
and I will add the 4 sites as primary sites, but what about the database ? what is the best topology for this? every site will has separated database?what is the best solution for this?

    Regards

  • How many clients do you have first? You only really need a CAS if you have 150,000 clients or more. Depending on the client count, you can look at a more simple approach like a single primary and multiple distribution points or secondary sites. What is the bandwidth like between the sites as well?

  • Hi Nick,

Thanks for your replay, well the first site is the principal site will have around 1000 then the other sites will have from 100 to 200,
The other problem may will be the bandwidth between two sites, they may have low bandwidth.
in this case one primary site with secondry or with distribution point will be the best?

    regards

  • The bandwidth between a CAS and Primary can't be low band width too. You would be far better off with a single primary server and remote DPs.

  • Thanks All for fast replay, Just one question more,

Can I use the SCCM Console manament on branch Office?
can I give the technican in branch office permission to only allow them to see and manage branch devices and not watch or control devices from other branches?

    Best regards

  • Yes. Use security scopes and RBAC to only give access to what the technicians need. See https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/configurationmgr/2014/01/21/how-to-use-collections-roles-and-scope-to-limit-access-in-system-center-2012-configuration-manager/

  • Yes, using the latest version is always better (assuming that you are licensed for it).
