Cloud Connector Edition on Azure RRS feed

  • Question

  • As per the title does anyone know if Skype for Business Cloud Connector Edition is officially supported on Azure?

As it requires Hyper-V I can't see why it shouldn't be but I can't find any reference that it is supported.  We are about to move from Lync 2013 on-premise to Skype for Business either Hybrid or through O365 with Cloud Connector Edition.

The reasoning behind this is that we are starting the process of decommissioning our datacenter (which is VMWare so wouldn't work anyway) and moving all server to cloud-hosted servers.  We don't need this on-premise as we use a SIP trunk the is currently connecting directly to the mediation server in our Lync 2013 environment and most users connect externally.

Once Microsoft is able to provide PSTN calls directly from Office 365 in Australia I expect we will migrate to using these and using the Cloud Connector Edition should make this migration path easier.

    Thanks

  • Hi Scott,

It is not support only supports onprem hyper-v.

    See also: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/3143410/deployment-of-cloud-connector-edition-in-amazon-web-services-fails

There are also devices like Audiocodes that you can deploy onprem.

  • Hi Erdem

Thanks for confirming that.  Looks like we will go a full hybrid Skype for Business until Microsoft can supply us with the ability to call direct from O365 in Australia.

    Regards

    Scott
