UAG and Outlook Anywhere, Password Needed RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I can succesfully connect and synchronize throug Outlook Anywhere when I publish a Exchange CAS through TMG. But once I publish it through UAG, Outlook keeps prompting for a password. I have tried every kind of authentication methods and such, but it keeps asking for credentials.

I know a lot of things can cause this issue. But what are the main differences between the way TMG and UAG publishes Outlook Anywhere?

I hope you guys can point me to the right solution.

Are you using a wildcard certificate in UAG?

  • Hi,

You could find a whitepaper in order to do that here: http://security.sakuranohana.fr/2011/01/whitepaper-publier-outlook-anywhere.html

  • Hi Jason, would a wildcard cert cause this issue? I would guess a wildcard is necessary - since the soln includes publishing both [portal name].root.com in the OA application public host name and autodiscover.root.com in the Autodiscover application public host name.

    Thanks for your time!

  • Unless you configure Exchange to support a wildcard certificate correctly, you can get a multiple auth prompts symptoms when publishing with TMG...

I know this from personal (painful) expereince ;)

  • Hi,

Are you saying wild card certs don't work with UAG?

I have a problem where I have Exchange 2010 and Outlook Anywhere published by UAG and it works with basic authentication but when I switch to NTLM - Outlook constantly prompts for password repeatedly - any idea (I have set the CAS to outlook anywhere to NTLM and enabled the KCD following the Microsoft Outlook Anywhere UAG / NTLM whitepaper) ?

    Thanks
