Direct Access client DNS name resolution problem RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have been testing UAG Direct Access 2008R2 for a while and I am very happy with what we have seen here.

Came across a small problem the other day when I wanted to RDP to a DA client and found I could not.

So I attempted to PING the FQDN of the DA client and got an error PING REQUEST COULD NOT FIND HOST.

Took a look at our DNS server and found an IPv6 address for the DA client.

So I then attempted to PING the IPv6 address registered with our DNS server and got an error PING: TRANSMIT FAILED. GENERAL FAILURE.

Next I moved the DA client back onto the Internal LAN checked DNS and found a new IPv4 address for the client. I can now PING FQDN and browse the DA Client.

The DA client does not have any problem with name resolution to internal objects.

Has anyone got any idea why my internal PC’s can’t resolve the FQDN of my DA clients when the DA client is not on the internal network?
