Search word stemming, partial results, confirming normal OOB functionality RRS feed

    Testing search, a QA member added a list itemnamed "aaaaaaaaaaa". Typing in the exact string, it returns the value.

    Typing in "aaaa" does not. 

    Typing in "aaaa*" returns value.

    This is normal OOB behavior, correct? And Search stemming is enabled by default in 2016, yes?

    Hi scogordo,

    It’s the default behavior. SharePoint Search is enabled Full-Text index, we need to type the full text for the item name in search box. Use KQL can use Free text-keywords(words or phrases) as "aaaa*" to get the result.

    And Search stemming is enabled by default in 2016 for some language, more information check the article:
