cannot play dvd on windows media player RRS feed

  • Question

  • I recently added a dvd player to my old Dell Dimension system. However, I am unable to play the dvd. It is detected by the media player, but I get an error message stating: windows media player cannot play the dvd because a compatible dvd decoder is not installed on your computer. I don't know what I should install to fix this. Thank you.

  • gramaof6,

I would be inclined to install VLC from Filehippo website, as I use VLC on all my PC clients for DVDs. Please find the link below for further information.

  • Thank you. I installed the utility, and it confirmed that I did not have DVD decoder installed on my computer. I will have to install one.

  • VLC Media Player

    Media Player Classic
(just unzip it and run it...no installation required)

    Media Player Classic Home Cinema
    (runs on XP/Vista/7)
