Periodic allocation in Microsoft AX 2012 R3 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Dear All,

I am a new user of MS AX 2012 R3, during exploring set up options i came across periodic allocation rules. I have the base concept but i have following questions.

    1. In define rule tab and in general, why their is a unit of fixed value along with ledger ? isn't it should use ledger amount recorded? what is fixed amount and what may be its calculation basis.

     2. why divide and multiply option appear if we select ledger as an allocation basis.

    Kind regards,

  • This is a good introduction to Periodic allocation:

The divide and multiply is used when you don't want to use the source amount as it is, you can as an example decide to allocate 110% of the source amount if this results in the preferred allocation result. You could for example have a source that it just for direct expenses and to achieve the correct allocation you can add a factor for indirect cost/overhead that might not be that easy to identify be source alone.
