Checking ISO file readability before install or burning to DVD RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • I found one way to check my Vista ISO download is to use Smart Projects ISOBuster.  It has a feature to check each file in the ISO image for readability.  My first download did not work and did not pass this test.  My second attempt (using the Akamai downloader) worked and this one passed the ISOBuster readability test.

You can also check the readability of all files on a burned DVD with ISOBuster.  For either the image or DVD, right-click the top of the file system tree (labelled UDF) on the left of ISOBuster screen and choose "Check if all files are physically readable".

The free version of ISOBuster will work for this purpose.  http://www.isobuster.com
