Exchange 2013 UTF-8 characters

    Question

  • I tried to find documentation regarding of Exchange supports UTF-8 characters  when used as smtp relay, but cannot find any yet.

Does anyone have any link where Microsoft confirms this?

    thanks!

Please check the following article and check if it’s what you want:

  • Thanks for your reply Jason,

according to that article, it is for remote domain and it should support Norwegian characters (æøå). So not sure why we still receive the error:

"The client or server is only configured for E-mail addresses with ASCII local-parts"

When I try to add Norwegian characters to Accepted domain and email addresses I get the error of unsupported characters.

This link does not state so: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn169553%28v=exchg.150%29.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396

Not sure if anything has to be enabled on Exchange server for this support?
