Deploy Windows 8.1 language pack?

Hi,

After updating to Windows 8.1, all the machines have reverted back to only having US English as the display language. They all show no language pack available under English (UK).

I've downloaded the correct language pack and installed it manually on one machine and all is good there.

How do I deploy this lp.mlc file to the remaining 8.1 machines via SCCM 2012 R2 and make the UK default for all languages and inputs?

I've done some reading around, but it all seems to be related to applying this at OS deployment and it's too late for that.

The machines are OEM editions so weren't upgraded via SCCM (we're in a "transitional" phase...)

Hi Torsten,

They were updated via Windows Store.

These were brand new Dell machines supplied with pre-installed OEM Windows 8, configured for UK during initial setup.

I've tried creating a SUP containing just the English UK language pack from WSUS (KB2839636), deployed to all Win 8.1 machines, marked it as required and given it an ASAP deadline, but it still says language pack unavailable in control panel and it's not in the Language list. Default settings then revert the keyboard to US too as it's set to follow the default display language.

SCCM is declaring the machines as compliant, but Required and Installed are still at 0. It's as though it's saying that these are optional so it won't install them.

Any help greatly appreciated!

Hi,

Did your updates install successful?

If didn’t, please check the logs related to updates.

(ScanAgent.log, Updates*.log on the client)

If did, you should get better support from Windows Forum.

No, they didn't install.

No errors in logs.

This seems like an SCCM issue rather than Windows Forum.
