Autopopulate deployroot network credentials only for specific hardware model? RRS feed

  • Question

  • We would like workstations of a specific model to automatically launch an OSD with no prompts, but any other model device to prompt for credentials before being allowed to access the MDT wizard.

    If we add network credentials to bootstrap.ini, it will apply to every system instead of only this model.

    How can I configure customsettings.ini to allow this?

  • This is possible, although not very graceful.

    [Settings] Priority=Default [Default] Subsection=%Make%-%Model% [Dell Inc.-Latitude E7450] MandatoryApplications001={4bb5fd2c-4aef-442a-87e7-d2fc49827b88}
    SkipWizard=TRUE

  • I don't think you can do this based on model.

    Many questions such as where do I find logs and what logs are interesting are found in: MDT TechNet Forum - FAQ & Getting Started Guide Please take the time to read it. Also if you don't post logs your problem won't be easily solved.

  • If we prepopulate the network credentials in bootstrap.ini, can we do something else in customsettings.ini to automate deployment of a hardware specific model, but force credential entry before the user would be able to launch any available OS deployment options otherwise?
