App-V Offline Mode RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi!

I'm studying for the 70-686 exam and I am really confused regarding App-V (even MED-V). On the Measure-Up exam on the CD that came with the book, it says that you can't use App-V on clients that does not have a connection to the App-V server.

But after watching the Virtual Round Table that covered App-V they said that App-V caches on the local computer and can be run without having a network connection.

What should I answer on the certification exam, will it be up to date?

Would hate to fail the exam because the certification exam was not up to date since this is a major change.

    Best regards,

    Philip

  • App-V has supported offline mode for many years. I would assume that the test exam is wrong.

  • Thanks for the reply!

OK seems very strange, how can an error like that be able to pass through. Could cause alot of confussion.

  • I noticed that when I took the MeasureUp exam and made a stink to the MCP team only to be told that Measureup's rationale was actually off for that particular question. The confusion comes from the "reverse engineering" where the real exam involves an AppCompat scenario, not an offline scenario as the primary question objective. The offline information was only a red herring.
