Test Lab Guide: Demonstrate DirectAccess - setup issue with directaccess RRS feed

  • Question

  • i am configure the test network for the DirectAccess demonstration and cannot get it to create the ISATAP based address on DC1 correctly. The DirectAccess configuration wizard shows the 200:836b:2:1:0:5efe:10.0.0.1 for the name Corp.contoso.com as the directions state on page 24 step 11.  The ISATP based address is configure correctly on APP1, appears on the DNS server and pings correctly at 2002:836b:2:1:5efe:10.0.0.3. But nothing shows up for DC1 except it's IPv4 address in DNS. It shows the Isatap.corp.contoso.com tunnel adaptor with a physical address of 00-00-00-00-00-0e and two link-local FE80::5efe:10.0.0.1 and FE80::5efe:10.0.2.1 so ISATAP is assigning link-locals to the interface. 6to4 interface shows as being enabled but won't assign the 2002:836b:2:1:0:: prefix. Any ideas on how to troubleshoot or correct why this is happening?

  • Hi,

    Thanks for your post.

Please verify that the ISATAP was removed from the DNS global block list on the DC. Then, restart the IPhelper service by run the following command:

    net stop iphlpsvc

    net start iphlpsvc
