BAMArchive database recovery mode to simple? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I do not see the logs getting backed up on this database and the database recovery mode is 'full', making the log file to grow too big.

Can I  make this database recovery mode to 'simple' and leave it?

    Biztalk 2009\SQL 2008

    Thanks in advance.

    Suresh.

  • The BAM Archive Database is not part of the out-of-the-box SQL Agent Backup Job, simply because it is not part of any BizTalk transactions.

If you don't find it vital to be able to recover it you could just set the recovery mode to simple and leave it a that.

Alternatively you could add it to the dbo.adm_OtherBackupDatabases table found in the Management Database, or simply just do a normal SQL Backup.

  • As La Cour suggests, you can add the BAM Archive databases to the list of BizTalk Databases that are backed up through the standard BizTalk Log Shipping/Recovery jobs. The instructions to help you achieve this are available @http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa561198(v=bts.20).aspx

  • Thanks La Cour\Shanky for your suggestions. Will be making this database as simple, just wanted to get a second opinion on this.
