calculating end-to-start times from seperate rows RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a calculation I'm trying to wrap my mind around and I'm hoping someone here has some suggestions.

We have a process that exports data from one system to another.  The process is manual and must be run a minimum of twice to fully, but, due to the recursive nature of the data being exported, the process may need to run as many as five times to fully complete the export.  I currently use Power Query to parse out key values from these log files and creates a row for each log.   Each row consists of a column for the job name, job iteration number (like I said, the process is run at least twice), job start time, job stop time.

I was recently asked to calculate and average idle time between job iteration- so basically, I need to take the end time from row 1 and substract it from the start time in row 2.

Any thoughts about whether this is possible and, if so, the best approach?
