Creation of multiple VMs - all VHDs will be placed on the same disk RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi, when creating multipe VMs, all the VHDs will be placed on the same disk for an unknown reason. The server has 12 disks and all of them can be used for saving the VHDs (this is activated in SC VMM 2008 R2). How can spread the VHDs to the other disks? Thanks in advance for your help.

  • You can export your VM , move it then import it again. You can shutdown the VM.. remove any snapshoot.. move it and them change the HD location in the VM settings. I would recommend you to use the export/Import solution

  • Thank you for your reply. I hoped that there is a way to have the disks copied to the correct disks right from the beginning. This would speed up my work dramatically. I have to create 10-30 VMs per week.
