Active directory Migration from one domain to another RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

We are buying new company and we have our own domain for example lets call it domain1.com. Company that we are buying is for example company.com

We have task to move everything from the company.com to domain1.com. This means files folders users and eventually we will also have to move citrix infrastructure as well. But aside Citrix did anyone performed move of the users from one domain to another.

The caveat is that security policy strictly doesnt allow trust relationship otherwise I would use ADMT tool to perform user migration.

Users in the old domain have many shares with different permissions set on them and they would like to keep exactly same permissions on the new domain in this case domain1.com

One of the issues is also that they have failover cluster configured and it is joined to old domain company.com

We should be able to move this to the new domain domain1.com. I have never performed Failover Cluster move and dont know whether it is even possible so would like to get some infromation whether someone did this in the past.

  • This isn't an Exchange Question.

I recommend that you post this in the Active Directory Services Forum: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/winserverDS/threads

But I really recommend that you employ a consultant who is experienced with these kinds of cross-forest migrations.
