Device properties has Site and Client Version information, but no client is installed RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a client that is asking me why some of his devices' properties show a value for the client version, show the ConfigMgr site, but say there is no client installed (Client No).  Upon manual inspection, there is no client installed on the device.  I can understand how a machine may have a difficult time getting the ConfigMgr client installed, but if there is no client installed, why does it have a value in the Client Version field?

  • Can you post a screenshot of the properties of such a device?

  • Willing to bet the version is 5.0.00.0000. For imported devices or unknown records I believe thats the client version until the client actually generates a DDR.

  • Just cleaning up old posts.

What does the Agent Name show in the client properties?

I looked in our environment and we have the same, the agent name is 'MP_ClientRegistration', so at some point the client did communicate with the MP.

Perhaps the ConfigMgr client was uninstalled, which would not remove the record. It would only become inactive and eventually obsolete, and then be removed.
