Microsoft, would you please focus on sleep, hibernate? RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • Microsoft, would you please consider directing some industry focus on getting sleep and hibernate to work robustly with all our devices, so we don't have to leave our machines switched on all the time?

Global warming is catching up with us, and it is no longer an option for the planet or our hip pockets to have machines running when we're not there.  But it is so damned inconvenient to reboot, or make everythinig work again after sleep or hibernate.

You have organised a lot of focus on security for some years and it appears to be improving the situation, so it seems that if you know that something is important to your customers, you can make a difference.

Can we look forward to some cross-industry initiatives so we can begin to trust these power management technologies?

    Thank you.

  • Which OS are you working with? Windows 7 has a lost of great power saving settings now and is working pretty well for me as a TV tuner that turns my machine on and off approriately to record programs or even to run a task.
