  • Hi,

I have a client using rdp to connect to a virtual pc across a VPN.  The saved credentials do not stay. Any ideas?

  • Hi,

I want to confirm with you if you use system built-in Remote Desktop Connection client to establish remote connection?

If so, please make sure that you had selected the option “Allow me to save credentials” on RDC – General tab. And select the option “Remember my credentials” on Windows Security window after entering credential on RDC and clicking Connect.

Then, please confirm that if credential is stored via blow location:
    Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Credential Manager\Windows Credential

Under Windows Credentials section, there should be a record as TERMSRV/<remote system>. If not, try to manually add one and check the result.

If problem persists, please check below Group Policy configurations.

Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Remote Desktop Services > Remote Desktop Connection Client
    1. Do not allow password to be saved
    2. Prompt for credentials on the client computer

Make sure above GPs are not configured or disabled.

Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > System > Credentials Delegation
    1. Allow Delegating Saved Credentials with NTLM-only Server Authentication
    2. Allow delegating default credentials
    3. Allow delegating saved credentials
    4. Allow delegating saved credentials with NTLM-only server authentication

Enable above GPs, and click Show, type “TERMSRV/*” in Value section.

If possible, please re-start system to make the change take effect.
