Applet not opening in Internet Explorer 10 64 bit RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

I have a Windows 7 enterprise 64 bit laptop with Internet Explorer 10. (Complete version 10.0.9200.16438 Update versions: Pre-Release(KB2718695)) which is for 64 Bit.

I have JRE 1.7.0_25-b17 (64 Bit) installed in my machine. When I invoke the http:// www . java.com / en / download / testjava.jsp page. The applet is not invoking.

I have tried the below options:

    Internet Explorer:

Click Tools and then Internet Options
Select the Security tab, and select the Custom Level button
Scroll down to Scripting of Java applets
Make sure the Enable radio button is checked

    Java Control Panel

In the Java Control Panel, click the Security tab.
Select the option Enable Java content in the browser.

But the applet is not invoking.

If I uninstall the 64 bit JRE & install a 32 Bit JRE, the applet is invoking.

I have tried with 64 bit JRE, with IE 8.0 & 9.0, the applet is invoking. In case of IE 8.0 & 9.0 it displays two Internet Explorer options in my start up one with 64bit & one with out.

But IE 10.0 64 bit does not show such option.

Please let me know how to resolve this issue.

    Regards

  • task manager it still shows iexplore.exe *32.

For tab tasks?   That's normal.   The "chrome" tasks should be 64-bit and their Desktop tab tasks should be 32-bit unless you have enabled Enhanced Protected Mode (in Options, Advanced tab, Security section).

Use this wmic query to check this:

wmic.exe Path Win32_Process where (Name = 'iexplore.exe') get CommandLine, ProcessId

  • When I invoke the

    http://www.java.com/en/download/testjava.jsp

page. The applet is not invoking.

What does that mean?   What do you see there?   For example, I don't have Java installed and I see

    <quote>

No working Java was detected on your system.
Install Java by clicking the button below.

    </quote>

Perhaps you should uninstall all of your Java stuff and start from there?

    Good luck

  • Hi Robert,

When I invoke the page, it displays me "No working Java was detected on your system." "Install Java by clicking the button below." though I have JRE 1.7.0_25 64 bit installed in me. On click of "Free Java Download" button, JRE 32 bit is downloaded & the applet is then displayed.

I am not sure whether the Internet Explorer is of 64 bit. But I have downloaded the software from http: //www.microsoft.com /en-in /download/ internet-explorer-10-details.aspx and installed.

How do I check whether the installed Internet Explorer is 64 bit? In case of IE 8.0 & 9.0 in the startup we have to options Internet explorer & Internet Explorer(64 bit) & also in help about of Internet explorer 64 bit is displayed.

  • Hi Navin,

I think you can check the add-ons. Open Internet Explorer, on the Tools menu, click Manage add-ons>Show all add-ons, locate and enable the java RTE add-ons

I would suggest you to check if the java script is enabled or not.

I also would like to suggest you reset Internet Explorer settings and then check how it works.

You may try Compatibility view in IE 10.

I also recommend you uninstall the older version of Java and install the latest version by follow the steps in the below link and let us know the status of the issue.

  • Hi Summer,

When i install JRE 32 bit, the applet loads perfectly, but when i uninstall JRE 32 bit & install 64 bit then the applet does not load up.

I want to know whether the Internet Explorer belong to 32 bit or 64 bit, though I have installed 64 bit version, as in my task manager it still shows iexplore.exe *32.

  • Hi Robert,

    Below is the output:

C:\>wmic.exe Path Win32_Process where (Name = 'iexplore.exe') get CommandLine, ProcessId
    CommandLine
                    ProcessId
    "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe"
                    2756
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE" SCODEF:2756 CREDAT:41341
    82 /prefetch:2  6844
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE" SCODEF:2756 CREDAT:26924
    01 /prefetch:2  6148

It looks like the 32bit Internet Explorer is getting invoked.
