Outlook 2016 (Office 365) - Previewer not installed RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

Just upgraded about 30 users on our domain to office 365 from office 2010.  Everyone now is unable to preview attachments in outlook.  I have tried sever fixes found searching forums such as permissions changes, folder ownership, registry edits for previewer handling, Trust center protected view in excel, word etc...  Nothing has resolved this issue and i cant find any additional potential solutions.

    Any ideas?

Same issue here... But testing so far has determined that only with .xlsx files.

PDF works fine with Acrobat Reader installed, docx and eml files also work correctly.  Which types have you tested?

  • No office files are working.  Excel, Word, power point.  PDF works fine.  Everything worked fine right up until i upgraded to office 365.

And if i unchecked the previewer in outlook options trust center trust center settings attachment handling it wont even prompt me to allow it.  Like its not even recognizing i have excel installed.  If  i unchecked Adobe for pdf the next time i try and preview a PDF it will ask me to enable the pdf viewer installed.

  • Hi Curtis,

What operating system are you using? I've noticed a similar issue on Windows 10 OS, but it only happens with the Excel previewer.

Have you totally uninstalled the Office 2010 version? You may try running the Fix It tool in the following article to verify this.

Have you tried repairing your Office installation to see the result? See:

Can't speak to all other files you're having an issue with but as far as the Excel previewer is concerned - you may want to take a look at the following thread
