Lync Server and Pin Numbers

Question
-
We currently have a traditional Asterix style PABX that requires users to enter a PIN number to dial external numbers. This is required in our organisation for reporting. Is this possible with Lync Server and SIP trunking or would we need to go through some sort of 3rd party gateway.

You could setup voice normalisation rules to support this kind of behaviour, but only if it's a standard PIN. If each user has an individual PIN, then this would be too difficult to manage.
Reporting is provided out of the box with Lync however, with the ability to track what calls individual users make without having to input a special individual PIN.

I would argue that requiring a PIN to dial external numbers is unnecessary in Lync. Since each user is authenticated, you know exactly who is making calls. If a specific person shouldn't be allowed to make external calls, or international calls or whatever, you would use Lync voice policies to control this. This is much more secure than a PIN, which can easily be abused.
If you're deploying common-area desk phones that are used by multiple users (in a "hotelling" type deployment), then you could setup normalization rules as Justin suggests for the account used for the common-area phones.

hi,
In lync you do not have to enter pin number before making external or Internal calls. You may deploy a lync 2010 monitoring server to generate different kinds of reports for your organisation. If that's what you are looking for
