Sequencing Windows Messenger RRS feed

  • Question

  • Has another tried to sequence Windows Messenger?  I would like to find out if it is possible to run 2 sessions of Windows Messenger on the same desktop, 1 installed on XP and 1 virutal while each session is logged on with a different user name.

  • Znack,

    Thanks for your reply, the one that I'm shooting for is not Live Messenger rather it is just Windows Messenger 5.1 which is the client that can be used with Windows Live Communication Server.

  • Also does anyone know what is the tie in between Windows Messenger and Office 2007?  I've tried in sequence Office 2007 before and when I deployed it, another instance of Messenger was running.

  • Hello,

    Tried sequencing on WinXP 32-bit with 4.6 sequencer and deploying to win 7 rc 64-bit, receive the following error;

    Activation context generation failed for "Q:\msmsg51.001\VFS\CSIDL_PROGRAM_FILES\Messenger\Msmsgs.exe". Dependent Assembly Microsoft.Windows.Networking.RtcDll,language="*",processorArchitecture="X86",publicKeyToken="6595b64144ccf1df",type="win32",version="5.2.1004.3" could not be found. Please use sxstrace.exe for detailed diagnosis.

    As it states I am probably missing an assembly :P

    I tried running it on a WinXP and that works, however I always get wrong password / username. Uncertain if this is a limitation of me (what is my password anyways?) or the actual sequencing...

  • Hello,

    You can apply the solution used for a similiar assembly problem - described here;
