IE Certificates - Other People - remove button greyed out RRS feed

  • Question

  • The Remove button in IE - Internet Options - Content - Certificates - Other People is greyed out.  Accessing IE with admin credentials will make the Remove button available for the other certificate tabs but the not the Other People tab.  I can remove the certificates through the Certificate Manager snap-in but I am unable to figure out what is removing the option from being performed in IE.

  • Hi,

Elevated permission is required to remove the certificates. Right click IE and choose Run as Administrator and see how it works.

  • When running IE as a user the remove button is enabled for Personal and Trusted Publishers.

When running IE as an administrator the remove button is enabled for Untrusted Publishers, Trusted Publishers, Trusted Root Certificate Authorities, Intermediate Certificate Authorities, and Personal.

Neither situation enables the remove option on the Other People tab.

  • Thanks - and do you know why the Other People is not allowed here in IE but certmgr.msc works?

  • To tracycai: Hi, That does not work as well (W7, IE11, local admin user, domain member computer). Only the certmgr.msc way works.
