New Installation - Unable to Stream Applications, 4604EE8-00000729-000000A1 Error RRS feed

  • Question

  • New installation of AppV 4.6 on Windows 2008 R2 Server. Haven't been able to get any applications to stream to Windows 2008 R2 Terminal Server clients.

    Error Message in sftlog on Terminal Server: The client was unable to connect to Application Virtualization Server (rc 00000729-000000A1)

    The Application Virtualization Client could not launch (Name of App), Specified Path is Invalid Error Code: 4604EE8-00000729-000000A1

    I have confirmed all of the firewall rules are in place and can ping and telnet to the Virtualisation Server. All roles are on the Single Server (Management, Console & Service). The application once published appears on the desktops of the clients, also confirmed correct permissions are on the Content Folder. Location of Content Folder is default and confirmed registry entry for SOFTGRID_CONTENT_DIR points to this location (C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft System Centre App Virt Management Server\App Virt Management Server\content)

    Portion of OSD file:

    <SOFTPKG GUID="AB587A41-3020-44A6-BBD0-515B8421ECC1" NAME="Firefox" VERSION="1.9.2.3855">
     <IMPLEMENTATION>
      <CODEBASE HREF="RTSP://apphyperv:554/Firefox/Firefox.sft" GUID="6532CA11-B0CD-4441-89C3-BC1DD0F89D77" PARAMETERS="" FILENAME="Firefox\firefox.exe" SYSGUARDFILE="Firefox\osguard.cp" SIZE="28650538"/>
      <OS VALUE="Win2008R2TS64"/>

    Firefox is a folder under C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft System Centre App Virt Management Server\App Virt Management Server\content

    Also confirmed that Package File Relative Path is Firefox/Firefox.sft (Relating to the Example of the Published App Given)

    Have also attempted to run the app by connecting directly to the share on Server via UNC but same error seen.

    Any help anybody can provide would be greatly appreciated. I've installed the Server components and the Clients several times with the same result on each occasion. I'm obviously doing something which is not following best practice, just not sure what! I haven't been able to find anybody else on any forums with the same error codes as I am seeing.

    Regards

    Shane.

    Verify that content path is set properly using the Registry path on x64 which is:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\SoftGrid\4.5\Server

    Also make sure the content path is contained in quotations.

  • Hello,

    have you tried sharing the content-folder and referencing that path instead?

    See the trial guide for more information on basic setup;

  • Enable verbose mode in the App-V client log to get a better idea of the issue: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc817103.aspx

  • Thanks everyone for your assistance with my problem - Znack's reference to the AppV 4.6 setup guide assisted me greatly in getting the product to work.

    Issue was related to the streaming server name having a '&' in the FQDN - required quotations around it as recommended by Steve TH. Once the quotations were added in the registry, all worked well.

    Greatly appreciate everybody's help.
