Tagging and untagging external emails upon reply or forward

Based on my research already I am guessing this is a no to this answer but here goes nothing:

We are tagging emails from outside the org via transport rule - prepend [External] to subject line

We have setup an exception already so they aren't retagged upon reply.

Upon replies they are still tagged with the initial [External] prepend to the subject line.

Is there anyway to strip away this prepend? - [External]

I couldn't provide better suggestion without your detailed transport rules. Please share it.

And do you mean you want to remove prepended message from subject line in any upon reply/forward messages?

For example: User@externaldomain.com sent to User@yourdomain.com with subject line:"From External", you create a transport rule to prepend subject line with message "[Test]", after this message is delivered, the subject line is "[Test]From External". Then User@yourdomain.com reply this message, now you want to remove "[Test]" message from subject line, right?
