  • lsass.exe got top' i/o reads' and 'i/o writes ' rates in a server (member server) where sql server 2000 running .Is it normal ?.(Memory Consumption seems normal ) If yes why does it going to high .Please Explain

    Windows server 2003 32 bit ,16 GB RAM(PAE)

  • Do you have a lot of logins/logouts happening on the server? And are you logging each of these?


    lsass.exe is the local security authentication service, this handles any windows authentication going on with your server. Checking permissions/logging users could account for the high reads/writes?

    Just in case your server has picked up a Virus or something, here's a tool which will check the validity of the process.
