Windows Update - PCs stuck in 30 minute reboot loop RRS feed

  • Question

  • I've done the pre-requisite searches and have only come up with the following that even semi-pertain to my issue -

The setup: I have a training room of 12 PCs, with Windows XP SP2, that have Steady State installed with WDP turned on and set to 'Remove all changes at restart'. I have Windows Update (in Steady State) checking for updates daily @ 5am. I also have Symantec Antivirus 10 getting updates at the same time.

The issue: The PCs are turned on and no-one is signed into them. They reboot after applying the updates but when they come up the updates aren't committed. Thus, they do it all over again - continuously, every 30 minutes. I have noticed that, apparently, if a person is signed on to one of the PCs (no matter what priviledges they have) the PC applies the updates, reboots, and DOES commit the changes.
