Keyboard and mouse not responding at logon screen after installation RRS feed

  • Dear Sir/Madam,

    I just installed Windows XP PosReady 2009 downloaded from your website.

    Installation went normally and once finished, the computer restarted and went to logon screen asking me for administrator's username/password. At the logon screen, both keyboard and mouse becomes nonresponsive, i.e. not a single key or mouse click/move does not respond - hence I am not able to type not click at all.

    The laptop is Compaq Evo N1015v.

    Any ideas how to get keyborad and mouse working?

  • What site did you download PosReady 2009? This product is EOL so I wouldn't start a new project with it. You might be missing XP drivers for the Compaq Evo N1015v - https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/compaq-evo-n1015v-notebook-pc/316644, which appears to be a very old system.

    1. I downloaded PosReady2009 from https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=11196

    2. I know of HP's drivers web site, no keyboard/mouse driver there. Also, I would not know how to install them since I am stuck at logon screen - as I said, I am not able to login since my laptop's keyboard nor mouse show zero sign of life.

    P.S. I also tried external PS2 keyboard, no life there either, and BTW, "normal" Windows XP Professional does not have this problem!
