Windows update icon gone in Windows 2008/2012?

Question

Hello,
We are using WSUS 2012 and I have updated 100s of XP (yes I know) and 7 pcs successfully. The all get system tray icon saying there are new updates to install etc. However our Windows 2012 and 2008 servers don't get this message, what is the issue here, showing it on the logon screen is not an option?
Many thanks

Hi,
How did you configured your GPO? Some user account do not have the right to install update, so please log on as administrator and check the result.
Hope this helps.

We are logged in as admins on the servers, 2003 servers are fine, but 2008 and 2012 don't show anything nless we go into the windows update tool.
Here are the settings:

Hi,
Check your registry settings under the path compare with the following article:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate\AU
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc708449(v=ws.10).aspx
I guess some settings are not configured or applied properly. Check the setting and configure it via GPO.
Some more information for you:
Minimizing restarts after automatic updating in Windows Update
If the problem persists, please share a screenshot of the keys settings.
Hope this helps.
