Windows 8.1 Update...Critical Structure Corruption RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have upgraded Windows 8 to 8.1.  Now about every 15 - 30 mins I get a blue screen saying:

":( Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart. We're just collecting some erro info, and then we'll restart for you."  after I installed Windows 8.1 (It was an upgrade from Windows 8, that worked perfectly).

It also states that if I want find more information, to go online and search for:

    CRITICAL_STRUCTURE_CORRUPTION

    Minidump files:  www.oggiweb.com/temp.zip

Please help me since is a working machine.

    Thanks

  • I think I resolved the issue.  I am using MacDrive version 9.1 which may have been the cause of the error.  They released a 9.2 update for Win 8.1 and no crash so far.

    Best.

  • Remove VMware and look if this fixes it. Your version is from the beginning of 2013 and doesn't support 8.1

I also see that the IntelHaxm.sys is loaded. This is also known to cause this BSOD:

  • Exact same problem here.  Every 15 to 20 minutes, even when not touching the laptop.  Had been working rock solid under Win 8.0 for the past month.  I have neither VMware installed not IntelHaxm.sys running.  That is really annoying.  Anyway I can revert to Win 8.0?

  • If you get this error in an ESXi environment please use the fix in the following article to avoid the problem:

    http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=2060019

We had a Windows Server 2012 R2 server that kept crashing on us until we applied the fix above.
