Is WSS 3.0 and 2010 Foundation Development on the same machine possible? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all-

With the new version of SharePoint coming out soon I was wondering if there is any possible way to be able to develop for the current version of SharePoint Services (WSS 3.0) and the new SharePoint 2010 Foundation on the same machine?  I have any windows operating system available for me to install on a single machine.

Has anyone tried this before?  Any suggestions?

    Thanks.

  • Never tried but I cant see how it would work. I think one would overwrite the other's files as well as other issues.  I could be proven wrong though.
For my Dev box I load up WinServer2008R2 w/ Hyper V as the host and then create a image for each environment I want to run such as 2010 or Foundation.

Another possibly is to dual boot or use native VHD boot feature. I have done native VHD boot before to support multiple SharePoint images.
