Deselecting "Show Toolbar" for a SSRS report in Dashboard Designer stops my SSRS chart from displaying RRS feed

  • Question

  • I created a reference to a deployed SSRS 2008 R2 report in PPS Dashboard Designer (SP 2010).

I would like to remove the toolbar from being displayed, so in Dashboard Designer I deselected "Show Toolbar". This causes the chart to 'break' and instead shows a red boxed "x", as if the link is broken.

When "Show Toolbar" is selected the chart displays fine.

Note that I have also tried this with tables in the same report and in separate reports, and whether or not "Show Toolbar" is selected has no effect on their ability to display (they will always display).

I have followed advice in previous threads with no luck (such as here, where I also posted but wasn't sure if I would get a response since it's marked as resolved). What I have done is to follow the instructions given in the marked answer and change the Report Server URL to the format http://servername/_vti_bin/reportserver rather than http://servername/reportserver in dashboard designer 2010.

However by doing this, I get the following error in a separate pop-up window: "Unable to find report specified by url. Please verify both server url and Report url is correct".

I have some additional configuration information:

My Report Server URL is set to the following: http://serverONE:80/ReportServer_ABCD (which I changed to  http://serverONE:80/_vti_bin/ReportServer_ABCD during testing the above solution).

My Report URL is set to the following: http://serverTWO/bidev/Reports/reportCategory/reportname.rdl

Reporting Services is configured to run in Integrated mode.

The PNG chart image URL that is generated (and works) when "Show Toolbar" is selected is:

    http://serverONE/ReportServer_ABCD/Reserved.ReportViewerWebControl.axd?ExecutionID=wsxll4ulpl3zndy0rcbmzizx&Culture=1033&CultureOverrides=False&UICulture=1033&UICultureOverrides=False
    &ReportStack=1&ControlID=8c07e16a7e354c5ca006533dc18c2561&OpType=ReportImage&IterationId=cefa7de1d25448ab99926ea13dd8b6b9&StreamID=IMGCON_1_0

The PNG chart image URL that is generated (and doesn't work) when "Show Toolbar" is not selected is:

    http://serverTWO/bidev/_vti_bin/ReportServer?http://serverTWO/bidev/Reports/reportCategory/reportname.rdl&rs
    %3ASessionID=0s03iy55ypcixxzaaiczcved&rs%3AFormat=HTML4.0&rs%3AImageID=IMGCON_1_0

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

  • Hello,

I would suggest loading SharePoint 2010 SP1 for Foundation and Server then load August CU for Foundation and Server.  After all patches are loaded, you will need to run the Configuration Wizard to finish the upgrade.  It is always good to make backups of all your SharePoint databases prior to loading any services packs or cumulative updates.

The reason I suggest going to the August CU is that we have a fix that changes how SSRS and PerformancePoint communicate to each other.  All you need after loading the August CU is the URL path to the RDL report.

    Thanks
