Can I bundle multiple OSs in a single image file and have one server handle multiple flavors of deployment with this file in SCCM 2012? RRS feed

    Hi all,

    I know that in SCCM 2007, I can use MDT to append multiple OS images in one file. My questions are

    1. Does the consolidated image file created by MDT still applicable in/compatible with SCCM 2012?

    2. If answer to my first question is Yes. Does SCCM 2012 have any "intelligent" configuration settings to handle different type of OS deployment with this file? Or Does SCCM 2012 have anything that close to this functionality?

    The ability for a WIM file to contain multiple image has nothing to do with MDT of ConfigMgr, it's simply part of the WIM specification. Both ConfigMgr and MDT use the same toolset to create, manipulate and deploy images from WIMs: DISM. Also, both tools use the same task sequence engine.

    So, to directly answer your questions, nothing changes with regard to WIM or images between the tools.
