Disable Welcome Screen RRS feed

  • Question

  • Is it possible to disable the welcome screen.  We have several users that will be sharing 1 windows vista ultimate PC, and would really prefer they type in there user names.  FYI this is not in a domain environment.

    Thanks in advance...

  • I haven't tried it, but I understand that if you open the local security policy while logged on as administrator - go to administrative templates/logon and enable "hide entry points" for fast user switching. I really don't know what the folks in Redmond were smoking when they decided to remove some of the functionality or at least the ease of finding things as compared to XP. Anyway, I'll try it and post the results.

  • Nope, no joy. Look on the bright side, Vista has some of the aspects of an expensive adventure game in regards to how  to find configuration settings in lieu of having adequate reference documentation. Plus, as per the norm, Help and Support is no more help than it ever was. Sorry.
