Missing counters from performance monitor


  • Hi all,

    I have a server running W2K8 operating system. When I try to add the counters in the performance monitor i can't see any counter under the "availbale counter" field. The available counter screen is blank.

    I have logined to the server as the local administrator and the server is part of a workgroup.

    Has anyone else experience this issue? Thanks

  • Lets first try to rebuild the counters

    Open up an command window as administrator

    Run lodctr /r

    This will rebuild the counters on an 2008 box.  Let me know how it turns out.

    thanks for responding. I ran that command sucessfully, but i still cant see the counters.

    I have also tried restarting the server and it did not fix the issue.

    any other thought?

  • Have you check your event logs?  Look into the applicaiton log to see if you are receiving errors.

    Is it possible to give us a screen shot of what is missing?

    C:\Windows\system32>lodctr /r

    Error: Unable to rebuild performance counter setting from system backup store, error code is 2
