Blue Screen Of Death Windows 7 RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • Hello,

I have Windows 7 Ultimate and I have been getting Blue screen errors for about 4 months.

I get blue screens whenever I play a video or a game. Sometimes the Blue screen appears randomly. I formatted my hard drive and installed XP for a while but got the same errors so I switched back to Windows 7.

I have two memory modules installed (512 MB DDR x 2) and whenever I use the computer with only one module the computer does not crash. Whenever I run memtest86 with both of the modules installed the test fails but if only one of them is installed (no matter which one it is and in which slot it is) the test runs for a long time without any errors.

    I uploaded the minidumps:

    https://cid-b6a3ff1660d97049.office.live.com/self.aspx/minidump2/Minidump2.rar

    I have a Dell Dimension 1100.

Invalid system memory was referenced.  This cannot be protected by try-except,
it must be protected by a Probe.  Typically the address is just plain bad or it
    is pointing at freed memory.

All dumps show Harddrive issues. the latest dumps shows hardware error. So check the HDD with chkdsk and a diagnostic tool from your HDD manufacture, please.

Also update your installed McAfee AntiVirus software. It may also trigger the NTFS issues.

  • you said you have errors if you use both RAM modules. maybe one RAM slot is damaged. Hae you tested the 1 RAM module in both slots? If you see that 1 slot is damaged, replace the 2*1GB RAM with 1 2GB module.
